Fly Fishing the Tuckasegee River

Posted by on March 14, 2012

Today, I guided my good friend and repeat client Manny T. from Greenville, SC.  Manny had a fantastic day on the Tuckasegee Delayed Harvest and was just a brown trout shy of the Tuck Grand Slam.  He landed some very nice bows and so many brook trout I lost count somewhere close to 20.  This was my 8th or 9th time guiding many and as always it was a blast and a fantastic day on the water.

Big Brook Trout on the Tuckasegee Delayed Harvest

Hot flies of the day were #8 Hot Head Marvins with a #14 Rainbow Prince Tungsten dropper fished under and indicator and Euro Nymph style.  With the East and West fork both off today we also fished a dry dropper #14 Para Adams with a #16 Just Add Water, which landed a hand full of fish as well.

Full Day Float Trip tomorrow on the Delayed Harvest.  If the t-storms hold off it looks to be another beautiful day in Western North Carolina.
