Today, I had the pleasure of Guiding Jeff B. from Cullowhee, NC. It was Jeff”s first time on a guided trip and only his 2nd or 3rd fly fishing. We started the morning out with some basic casting instruction, which covered the overhead cast, roll cast and side-arm cast. Jeff quickly got the hang of each cast so we decided to drive down to the Tuckasegee Delayed Harvest section. This section was recently stocked with close to 10,000 fish and it was just a few casts later that Jeff was hooked up with his first fish of the day. He ended up landing 14-15 fish including the big brook trout pictured above. Jeff even ended the day with a Tuckasegee Grand Slam (Rainbow, Brook and Brown). Hot flies of the day were Black and Olive Wooly Buggers, #8 Hot Head Marvins and #10-12 B.H. Prince Nymphs.
