Fly Fishing Maggie Valley, NC. Maggie Valley is home to and close to some of the best fishing in WNC. You can wade for wild trout in the Smokie or catch trophy sized stocked trout in a nearby delayed harvest stream like the West Fork of the Pigeon or the Tuckasegee River.
Cataloochee Valley is just a short drive away from Maggie Valley. If wild trout are what you are after this is definitely the area for you. Several streams rum through this valley and are full of wild rainbows, browns and brook trout.
There is also a good chance you will see elk throughout the valley. This area has been home to a large herd since the early 2000s.
If floating for monster brown trout is more your game then head on over to Sylva, NC and the Tuckasegee River. Just a short 25 minute drive from Maggie Valley the Tuckasegee has something for all skill levels. It is best to float this river between early October to mid or late June. Summer months offer some good opportunities for catching smallmouth bass on the Tuckasegee River.
