Hookers Fly Shop and Guide Service offers guided wade trips in and around Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Our guides will be happy to meet you somewhere close to where you are staying and we will provide all the necessary equipment for a fun filled day on the water fly fishing the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Large groups and children are welcome on all of our guided trips.

We offer trips to the West Prong of Little River, Little River, Middle Prong, Abrams Creek and more. You can choose from half day, 3/4 and full day trips. Our half day trip is 4-4.5hrs, the 3/4 day is 6-6.5hrs on the water and the full day trips are 8-9hrs on the water. We provide lunch on all full day trips and trips and snacks on our half and 3/4 day trips.

If you are the more adventurous type Hookers Fly Shop offers overnight backcountry trips to the more remote locations of the park. Many of our overnight fly fishing trips are on Hazel Creek. We can hike in, boat in or even paddle canoes or kayaks in. Our backcountry trip leader, Jason Cole has plenty of knowledge and information about staying and playing in the backcountry. Jason has been backpacking and camping in the remote areas of the park since he was five years old that’s almost 30 years of backcountry experience. He has been leading trips professionally for almost 11 seasons now. If you would like more information about these trips please feel free to email or call.

Fly Fishing is a sport that can be enjoyed by the entire family. We offer our trips to all ages. Over the years we have taken hundreds of kids on wade trips, float trips and even our backcountry camping trips. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the smile of a kid with his or her first trout on the fly.
You can choose any one of trips from 1/2, 3/4 and full day wade trips to 1/2, 3/4 and full day float trips. You can also choose between a 1 night two day back country or a 2 night 3 day back country trip into remote parts of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
We provide all the gear on all of our trips even waders and boots for kids. All gear is provided at no additional cost.

Guided fly fishing float trips on the Tuckasegee River.
The past two days Miller and I guided float trips for repeat client Joe R. and sons from Georgia. Both days were extremely cold, luckily we were in the boat so we stayed fairly warm.
Lunch Time on the Tuck!
The first day was the slowest and coldest of the two days and the water was running really high. We had some success early in the morning before the East Fork hit then it completely shut down. The second day was a different story. As soon as we hit the water we were putting fish in the net including some decent rainbows and the big Brookie pictured below.

When the East Fork hit mid day on the second day we did see the action slow down for an hour or so. After lunch the guys were back to putting fish in the net with some nice rainbows and several doubles. Overall a fantastic couple of days on the water with some great company. The hot flies for the trip were #8 and #10 Tungsten BH Hot Head Marvins with Pink and Yellow Micro Egg Droppers. Most of the fish came on the Hot Head Marvins. Now is the time to book a fly fishing float trip on the Tuckasegee River here in Western North Carolina. The fishing on the Tuckasegee Delayed Harvest is definitely at it’s peak right now. Both our wade and floats have been catching some impressive numbers as well as some big trout.

Guided fly fishing float trips on the Tuckasegee River. While our specialty is fly fishing, we do offer spin trips for both trout and smallmouth. All fishing gear is provided on all of our trips. We provide float trips on the Tuckasegee all year long. Our fly fishing float trips on the Little Tennessee are in the Spring, Summer and Fall.
Huge Tuckasegee Brown Trout.
The Tuckasegee River offers some of the best fly fishing in the Southeast between early October and late May. We offer 1/2, 3/4 and full day float trips on the Delayed Harvest section between Webster and Dillsboro. The delayed harvest is catch and release single hook artificial between Oct. 1st and the first Saturday in June. This section of river is stocked with close to 50,000 trout between Oct. and May. The Tuck as most of the locals call it offers excellent dry fly, streamer and nymph fishing throughout the delayed harvest months and into the early summer.

We also fish the Little Tennesess River for smallmouth bass in the summer months. Smallmouth action is great as the temps rise, both water and air.
